IRRIGATION OF LAWNS

All unincorporated Sarasota County residents must adhere to landscape and irrigation water regulations. These rules pertain to all water sources utilized for manual or automated irrigation, such as wells, ponds, or utility systems, with the exception of low-volume irrigation, spot treatments, residential drip lines, and soaker hoses.

For watering schedules:

  • Residents with even-numbered addresses (those ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8) are allowed to water only on Tuesdays.

  • Residents with odd-numbered addresses (those ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9) are permitted to water only on Thursdays.

Please be aware that Sarasota County prohibits irrigation between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on any allowable day. Additionally, ponds should have sensor shut-off devices actively monitoring automated irrigation systems. Verifying timer settings after daylight savings time changes and power outages is crucial. Furthermore, it is essential to ensure that rain sensor shut-off devices remain intact and function correctly following a storm.
